Multiple backups per day for Azure VMs

Standard backup policy offers one daily backup, while Enhanced backup policy allows multiple backups per day. The Enhanced policy is designed for mission-critical workloads that require more frequent protection and lower recovery point objectives.

Azure Backup's Enhanced policy can achieve a recovery point objective as low as four hours. This means you can recover your data from a backup point no older than four hours in case of data loss or corruption.

Multiple backups per day are essential for mission-critical workloads where data loss or downtime must be minimized. With Enhanced backup policy, you can protect your data more frequently and reduce the amount of data that could be lost between backup intervals.

The Enhanced backup policy with low RPO as low as four hours is currently in preview status. This means it is not yet generally available and may be subject to changes before its official release.

Mission-critical workloads that cannot tolerate significant data loss or extended recovery times benefit most from Enhanced backup. These typically include production databases, financial systems, and other business-critical applications where RPO and RTO requirements are stringent.
