TorBox + AIOStreams + Stremio: How to Guide

If you’ve been running Stremio with Real Debrid for years and suddenly noticed stream quality dropping or half your results disappearing, you’re not alone. The old debrid service started filtering aggressively by filename, and a lot of high-quality sources vanished overnight. A lot of people moved on. I did too.

This guide covers the setup I’ve been running since early 2026: TorBox + AIOStreams + Stremio. Fast, reliable, and honestly better than what I had before. If you’re in Australia, this combo works especially well.

Why Switch from Real Debrid?

The old Torrentio + Real Debrid workflow was simple until it wasn’t. Filtering got aggressive, Indian content became inconsistent, and Australian users noticed slower performance. TorBox filled that gap. It offers up to 80Gbps speeds, a solid torrent and NZB cache, and a less restrictive approach to content sources. Combine it with AIOStreams as your aggregation layer and you have a proper all-in-one setup that doesn’t require you to juggle five separate sources.

What Is AIOStreams?

AIOStreams is a tool that acts as a highly customisable super-addon for the Stremio app. Instead of managing multiple sources individually, AIOStreams consolidates multiple Stremio addons and debrid services into one clean stream list. Put another way: the aggregator handles combining and deduplicating results so you get one streamlined view instead of a mess of duplicate results.

The core value is how AIOStreams integrates with your accounts, runs deduplication across everything, and applies smart configuration options including regex patterns, stream expressions, filtering and sorting logic, and format controls. It’s built for the power user who wants to automate stream selection without babysitting a stacked addon list.

The tool is open-source — the code is on GitHub. You can self-host it or use the public AIOStreams instance on elfhosted. For most people, that elfhosted URL is the right starting point. It’s a low-friction setup that gets you going in under 30 minutes.

The tool integrates with TorBox, Debridio, StremThru, AllDebrid, Premiumize, and more — handling addons and debrid services in one place so you configure once rather than touching each source separately inside the app.

Prerequisites

Before starting you’ll need:

• An active TorBox Pro subscription (required for full speed and cache access)
• Your TorBox API key
• Stremio v5 installed
• A decent internet connection
• Optional: VLC for Android as an external player

Step 1: Get Your TorBox API Key

1. Log in at torbox.app
2. Go to Settings → Integrations
3. Copy your API key — you’ll need it for both the configuration page and MediaFusion

Step 2: Configure the AIOStreams Setup

This is your one-time expert setup — get it right once and you rarely touch it again.

Open your browser and navigate to:

https://aiostreams.elfhosted.com/configure

That’s the public AIOStreams instance hosted by elfhosted. If you want to self-host, the GitHub repo has full deployment docs. For most people, this is the easier path.

Services Tab

This is where you integrate your accounts and sources.

• Enable TorBox
• Click the gear icon → paste your API key
• Also enable Comet and the built-in addons, including the official TorBox addon

Enabling multiple addons here is the point — the tool handles combining and deduplicating results automatically. This is what makes it an aio solution rather than another single-source addon.

Filters Tab

Critical section. Get this wrong and you’ll wonder why nothing shows up.

• Cache and uncached toggles: leave both on
• Resolution: 1080p and 4K
• Language: English first, then Hindi/Punjabi if you watch Indian content
• File size: I use 2GB minimum for movies
• Seeders: 5 minimum is a sensible floor

The tool supports regex-based filtering. You can write regex patterns to exclude specific release group labels or match particular format strings. The formatter field accepts tokens that control how stream metadata appears in your list. This is where you fine-tune HDR format priorities or exclude repacks entirely.

Miscellaneous Tab

• Enable Pre-cache Next Episode
• Enable Preload Streams
• Set a password to protect your configuration page
• Keep proxy disabled unless you’re routing through StremThru or AltMount

Once you’re happy with the configuration options, click Save then Install. This generates the Stremio addon URL that you add to the app.

Step 3: Add TorBox Search as a Stremio Addon

During your aiostreams setup, also install TorBox Search alongside it. This is the dedicated TorBox addon for direct torrent and NZB lookups.

• Set sources to Torrent + Usenet
• Timeout: 8000–10000ms
• NZBdav support is handled automatically
• If you run a Newznab-compatible indexer, connect it here too

This gives you one addon covering both P2P torrents and NZB sources in a single query. If you want to use AIOStreams to its full potential, make sure you also use with AIOStreams any TorBox-specific sources that aren’t covered by the main aggregator layer.

Step 4: Set Your Stremio Addons Priority

In the app, drag your stremio addons into this order:

1. AIOStreams
2. TorBox Search
3. MediaFusion
4. Cinemeta (metadata)
5. RPDB (optional — better poster art for browsing)
6. Trakt

Cinemeta handles metadata for your library. RPDB adds rated poster images. Trakt syncs watchlist and watch progress across devices.

Step 5: Configure MediaFusion for Language Specific Content

If you watch language specific content content, set up MediaFusion separately. Using it with the AIOStreams Stremio stack means both surface results, but MediaFusion has better coverage of regional sources and services.

1. In your addon list, find MediaFusion → Configure
2. Add TorBox as a streaming provider (paste your credentials here too)
3. Set language priorities: Hindi, German, Arabic or English at the top
4. Enable regional catalogs

This combination delivers consistent results for new releases that don’t always appear in mainstream torrent sources.

Step 6: Clean Up Your Stremio Addons Stack

Remove everything that’s now redundant. A bloated stremio addons stack is slower and generates duplicate results that the aggregator can’t clean up when sources fall outside its workflow.

Remove:

• Torrentio (replaced entirely by the AIOStreams setup)
• Any duplicate MediaFusion or OpenSubtitles entries
• Superflix or similar free addons

Keep:

• AIOStreams (multiple addons into a single interface with full deduplication)
• MediaFusion (one instance, configured for Indian content)
• Cinemeta
• Trakt
• OpenSubtitles (one instance)
• RPDB (optional)

Troubleshooting

TorBox shows “Download Ready” but nothing plays:

• Pull down to refresh streams in the app
• Switch CDN to Sydney in the settings
• Try VLC as external player — the built-in player sometimes struggles with high bitrate files
• Reinstall the AIOStreams stremio addon after any major changes

Slow buffering on cached content:

• Check CDN selection first
• Prioritise cached sources in the sorting settings
• Wired or 5GHz Wi-Fi makes a real difference at 4K bitrates

Uncached content takes forever:

• Expected — the service needs to pull the torrent first, typically 1–10 minutes
• Enable “Cache & Play” in settings inside AIOStreams to start playback while it downloads

Almost no Hindi streams:

• Check MediaFusion configuration — Indian regional providers need explicit activation
• Add Hindi language filter inside the AIOStreams filter settings

No results at all:

• Verify your API key — no trailing spaces
• Confirm the configure URL resolves in your browser
• Check the status page at elfhosted for any outages

StremThru is worth knowing about if you want to proxy or consolidate multiple accounts through one endpoint. Not needed for a basic setup but adds integration flexibility.

Stream expressions let you build conditional logic to prioritise specific formats, codecs, or quality tiers. Dolby Vision over HDR10 over SDR — define it once and forget it.

4K: TorBox Pro handles 4K well. Make sure your device supports HEVC hardware decoding — software decoding at 4K bitrates will buffer regardless of connection speed.

NZB content: TorBox’s Usenet support is underrated. NZB releases tend to be faster and more reliable than P2P for popular titles. TorBox Search covers both torrent and NZB in a single query, so you don’t need separate NZBdav configuration for basic use.

AIO approach: One of the biggest reasons to use AIOStreams is the aio philosophy — instead of switching between addons, managing separate configurations, and wondering why sources and services conflict, you get one clean interface for everything.

TorBox is a debrid service that caches public torrent and Usenet content. Streaming copyrighted content without authorisation is illegal in Australia and most jurisdictions. Use legal alternatives — Netflix, Stan, Disney+, Hotstar, JioCinema — where available.

Wrapping Up

The AIOStreams + TorBox combination inside Stremio is the cleanest setup I’ve used. The initial configuration takes 20–30 minutes. Once done, day-to-day use is completely hands-off. You get a single, deduplicated stream list across multiple sources, solid Indian content coverage, and fast Australian CDN performance through a proper Pro plan tier.
